So you have this super great website that you are sure will change everything that is anything in your industry and it is sure to make a major impact on anyone whom has been lucky enough to find it.   You seem to have everything you ever imagined on the world wide web.

So what is the problem?

Let me guess….no one is visiting your website or even worse, a couple people are visiting a day but they are not contacting you. Are you are starting to feel like that kid that nobody wants to play with at recess. Do you stink? Are you not cute enough? Do you not follow the latest playground trends? There could be a number of reasons you aren’t making the online friends that it takes to make your online playground successful….or something like that.

This 2010 year, lets make your popularity meter fly off the charts. Now, don’t hunt us down and steal our lunch money if our tips don’t work immediately. It takes time. We suggest making it your New Years resolution to really dedicate your time mastering just one of these tips at a time and see how it effects your Analytic s. (If you don’t know about Google Analytic s, you should really check it out!)

So, off to the races…

Resolution #1: Find some Metadata hide-outs.
So you know where the obvious metadata lives, in the header but where are the others hiding! Check out your images, your images do more than make your site look pretty. Each and every one hides a special spot for keywords and some ‘alt tags’ and Google just loves them. If your image is a jack-hammer,  made by  Special E Electronics, name it special-e-electronics-jack-hammer.jpg and alt it special-e-electronics-jack-hammer.

Get it? Like it? Resolution it.

Resolution #2: I will NOT submit my website to the search engines everyday.

Do it once, in the right places and move on to another resolution.

With ask.com, make sure you have a sitemap built. Once you do, put this in to your web browser (with your info, of course).

Done? Step away and wait, it might take a month. *gasp*

Resolution #3:  Become Credible. Be an expert.

Mabye your website is www.walkthatdog.com (it could exist, I didn’t check) and you are the go-to know-it-all when it comes to walking dogs. You can walk big dogs, little dogs, hairy dogs, shaved dogs, circus dogs and more, so you know a little about walking dogs. Even if you don’t believe it or feel it is necessary, share your knowledge!

Go out and find some websites or blogs that discuss the art of  “Dog Walking” or a company that sells dog walking gear. Find a product that you just love when you are out walking your dogs and post a review. This could be a review in your own website’s blog or visit the manufacturers site and offer to write them a “product review”. Check out a site like http://ezinearticles.com/ and submit your review or dog walking wisdom as and Ezine within your category.

Long story short, spread your smarts and become a respected aficionado in your specialty! Goodness knows we fake it well ;) !

Resolution #4: Get Blogging.

I have already touched on the whole blogging sensation and did a pretty fine job.
So why rewrite what has already been written well. (Go ahead….try saying super fast 10 times.)
